Piano and All That Jazz Releases Something New Under The Sun

San Francisco, CA. March 6, 2009. Something New Under The Sun is the first release for record label Piano and All That Jazz. The album, featuring lyricist/vocalist Mark Stevens and composer/pianist Steven Cravis, is scheduled for release on March 6, 2009, coinciding with The Faith of Britain Day when millions of people across the globe will unite in prayer and meditation simultaneously for two minutes at 11:00 AM Greenwich time.

Mark Stevens and Steven Cravis reside in San Francisco and met in a piano retail store where Stevens worked as a salesman. With little discussion they agreed to collaborate, the result being fourteen original music compositions and song lyrics comprising Something New Under The Sun. The song “Father” tells of a grown man’s desire to express his love for his parent. “Tears of Joy” is a powerful anthem extolling the virtues of a nation. “Snowfall Sunrise” proclaims the beauty and majesty of nature in its most harsh season. Stevens’ frank vocals and Cravis’ subtle pianism are a compelling tandem throughout the compilation. The lyrics are flush with refinement. This album is
a blessing unto humankind and destined to become a classic.

Piano and All That Jazz is a record label headquartered in San Francisco, CA. Something New Under The Sun, the label’s first release, is available for purchase exclusively at iTunes

PRESS

"Percussionists provided driving rhythms...over which Haale's warm, supple voice unfurled like a curlicue of smoke. Her band's amplified rumble served as a reminder of the extent to which rock bands like the Doors and the Velvet Underground turned to the East for their hypnotic efforts; here their borrowings were reclaimed with interest."   NEW YORK TIMES 2/6/2007 (click HERE to view full article)

"On her two latest EP releases, 'Paratrooper' and 'Morning' (both self-releasd), [Haale] works a panoramic blend of luscious rock, heady bass, and brilliantly produced rhythms."   POPMATTERS

"[Haale's] earnest blends of electric guitar, thoughtful lyrics, and vocal gymnastics borrow from both ancient song and the poetry of Persia. The surprise chestnut at the heart of the music is the dynamic, fiery delivery of Haale herself, whose voice is by turns deep and commanding, feather-light and breezy, and as rich and sensual as dark-chocolate fondue."  FLAVORPILL (MUSIC PICK: LA on 1/5/07, SF on 1/12/07)

Aquarian Magazine Review of Joe's Pub Performance, June 2007   By Olivia Taubner

[Haale is] one of the few artists helping today's music redeem itself.

On a chilly Spring Friday night in the East Village, Haale played to a welcoming crowd that cheered, whistled and had no problem shelling out money for her two EPs at the end of the night. Throughout her set, I found myself zoning out and almost getting lost in a relaxed trance-like state of mind; she gave me license to blend daydreaming and work for about an hour and a half...  Her voice proved strong and vivacious as it flowed with ease between mystical Persian and English poetic lyrics, ranging from smooth and soft to beautifully coarse, with impeccable rhythm...  Haale is out there doing what no one else is doing.   (Click here to read full artticle)
